Mahawan Temple

It is believed that the temple dates to the reign of Queen Chamadevi herself. The temple is home to a sacred Buddhist naga statue officially called Buddha Sik-Kee (Black Stone Buddha) which is believed to have been brought by the queen from the Lawo Kingdom. Today locals call the statue Pra Rord Laung or Pra Rord Lamphun. This important artefact is used as mould for creating amulets, famously the Pra-Rord Mahawan.

Located on Chamadevi Road in Muang District, this temple is only half a kilometre from the provincial hall.
