Tha Comphu Bridge

Locally known as the White Bridge, this iconic rail bridge is best admired by train as it is truly breathtaking to travel on. Constructed in 1919 under the supervision of HRH Prince of Kamphaeng Phet, the bridge measures 87 metres long and was built from reinforced concrete as steel was hard to procure during the war. The bridge spans the Tha River and is located in the middle of rice fields, offering sweeping vistas for those travelling by rail between Bangkok and Chiang Mai. Regular travellers will know that the sight of the bridge means that there is one hour left of the journey to Chiang Mai Railway Station.

From Mae Tha, travel along Highway 106 towards Lampang Province’s Hang Chat District for 1.5kms and take the right turn, following the signs.
