This community was the recipient of the Award of Outstanding Performance in the category of Ecotourism Sites at the Thailand Tourism Awards 2008 for its conservation efforts. Having suffered the effects of deforestation, the villagers joined forces to bring their surrounding nature back to its pristine condition and set community regulations and standards for communal living.
